Report: Auburn football set to hire Alex Golesh as its next head coach

According to multiple reports, including one from Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports, USF head coach Alex Golesh is set to be named head coach. Auburn athletics confirmed the report shortly after. This development comes after Justin Hokanson of On3's report of a team meeting being scheduled for 10 a.m. CT on Sunday morning. Auburn Athletic Director John Cohen credits Golesh's success as a coordinator at a high level, as well as his leadership as a head coach, as a reason for showing interest and ultimately hiring him. Freeze was fired in early November after failing to fix Auburn's offensive issues in three seasons on the Plains. Freeze lost 12 of his last 15 SEC games.
